Chitral, October 27, 2025 — On the special directives of
the Honorable Vice Chancellor and the Provincial Government,the University of
Chitral observed Kashmir Black Day to mark the landing of Indian
troops in Srinagar on October 27, 1947—an event regarded as the beginning of
India’s occupation of Jammu and Kashmir. For Pakistan and many Kashmiris, this
day symbolizes the onset of a tragic and painful chapter in the region’s
history.
In this regard, a brief yet meaningful program was
organized on the lawns of the University of Chitral, attended by students,
faculty members, and administrative staff. The event was arranged by the
student societies of the University.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Zahoor ul Haq,
Chief Proctor of the University of Chitral, highlighted the historical
significance of October 27, emphasizing that the day serves as a reminder of
the injustices faced by the Kashmiri people and the need for continuous
solidarity with their struggle for self-determination.
Dr. Sajjad, Head
of the Department of Political Science, also addressed the gathering. He shed
light on the importance of observing Kashmir Black Day, noting that it reflects
Pakistan’s unwavering commitment to the Kashmir cause and its support for the
right of the Kashmiri people to decide their own future in accordance with UN
resolutions.
The program concluded with a solidarity walk led by Dr.
Sanaullah and Dr. Sahib Khan within the university premises, during which
students carried placards and chanted slogans in support of Kashmir’s freedom
and against the continued occupation.
The event reaffirmed the University of Chitral’s commitment
to national causes and its resolve to promote awareness among students about
the historical and political significance of Kashmir Black Day.
