A delegation from the Aga Khan Rural Support Programme
(AKRSP), accompanied by representatives of the American company Third Pole
Solutions, visited the University of Chitral and held a meeting with the
Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, in his office.
During the meeting, various issues related to climate
change and its impacts on mountain communities were discussed in detail. Both
sides exchanged views on climate resilience initiatives and explored possible
avenues to create greater environmental awareness among the students and
faculty of the University.
The delegation also discussed potential collaboration on
technical short courses and innovative business ideas aimed at equipping youth
with the skills and knowledge necessary to address emerging challenges and
opportunities in the region.
At the invitation of AKRSP, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr.
Hazir Ullah, also attended the launching ceremony of AKRSP’s new climate change
resilience initiative. He appreciated the efforts of AKRSP and its partners in
addressing the pressing issue of climate change and expressed the University’s
commitment to working jointly on sustainable solutions for the region.
The visit marked an important step toward strengthening
collaboration between academia, development organizations, and international
partners for the benefit of the community and the region at large.
