Under the directives of the Vice Chancellor of the University of Chitral, Prof. Dr. Hazir Ullah, faculty members and students enthusiastically participated in the impactful event “Green Azadi Climate Action by Youth” on August 8, 2025. This event aimed to highlight the vital importance of fostering a green environment to combat the dire effects of climate change at global, regional, national, and local levels, especially Chitral. By empowering the youth through awareness, proactive measures, and resilience-building, the event sought to inspire the next generation to take action for a sustainable future. It also provided students an opportunity to celebrate Mareka-e-Haq, enhancing their sense of patriotism. Civic responsibilities and community engagement.
Dr. Sana Ullah shared insightful perspectives on the social implications of climate change, emphasizing that Pakistan is among the most vulnerable nations. He illustrated this with the catastrophic floods of 2010 and 2011, underscoring the reality faced in northern areas like Chitral, which have suffered from flash floods, severe droughts, and unexpected heavy rainfall. He emphasized changes in lifestyle and behaviour to reduce the menace of climate change. He also highlighted university commitment towards global and local issues and explained the essential role of tree plantation in curbing pollution and fostering a healthier ecosystem for all. The event included different activities that highlighted the significance of Independence with a special focus on Marka E Haq and the role of youth in the socioeconomic uplift of the country.
